Acne scars have a drastic influence on the sense of worth of a person. Many of us, in our youth, may have combated with a severe case of acne; it is one of those misfortunate and harrowing personal experiences most of us deal with while growing up. For starters, we had to cope with the scarlet pimples, and then, we had to put up with the scarring that is afterwards left behind.
Dirt and oil can block hair follicles, making a condition accommodating to bacteria. The bacteria , in turn, cause pimples.
Once we recover from the reddish nodules, we have to deal with the scars. Even though there are acne scars that fade with time, some do not. Living with these scars on our own faces can be a discouraging experience.
Acne scarrings have 4 primary varieties. Rolling scars are hollows with a broad, shallow depth. Ice pick scars resemble scores on the skin’s surface. The raised-surface type could either be a keloidal or hypertrophic scar. Acne scars located on the temples or the cheeks are called boxcar scars, and they resemble scars from a case of chickenpox.
Results of clinical research show that some people experience low self-esteem and depression because of acne scars.
However, there is no need to lose hope just yet. There are now several technological developments for the treatment of acne scars. Some of these treatment methods use a form of laser therapy. Other treatments require some form of skin abrasion. There are creams and subcutaneous injections available as well. Consult your doctor about the best acne scar removal and/or treatment method that will suit you.
