An acne diet is a very interesting idea. Hasn’t everybody heard that chocolate will give you pimples? We almost all have. If you think about it its not so far-fetched that by watching your diet you could prevent acne.

Although creating a good acne diet can be very hard. This is very personal and its based on your body’s unique response to certain foods. Your advancement will mostly be by trial and error and not all by guidelines. Monitor your skin closely. Keep a journal. You could keep a photo journal. When your skin clears, continue on the diet you were on at the time.

The following guidelines can help get you started on an acne diet:

* You need to increase your protein - Some dermatologists believe that protein is associated with clearer skin. Oil production is limited from an enzyme located within protein. If you have oily skin, you know that it is very vulnerable to breakouts.

* Keep away from carbohydrates - Do not take all carbs out of your diet. However, you do need to limit them to about 40 percent of your diet. This is because carbohydrates have compounds in them that can stimulate oil production. This is the reason that junk food has the reputation that it causes acne. Actually, though, junk food is just high in carbs.

* Consume green tea - Real green tea is the best, try to drink it The best kind of green tea is the kind you brew yourself. You may not like the real stuff so the green tea drinks will work. Green tea limits androgen production. Androgen is a hormone that will wreak havoc on your skin.

* 4. Limit your salt intake - Iodine is usually found in salt. This is why table salt is usually called “iodized salt.” Of course for some people with acne, iodine can cause big breakouts.

In addition to watching your diet, you should carefully watch what you put on your face. If you have acne you are probably already more aware than most people of the ingredients in your beauty products. You should only use moisturizers without oil and natural and organic skin care products. These products will least likely cause you to breakout. You might want to start buying mineral makeup, that is if you wear makeup. Many dermatologists believe that mineral makeup can actually alleviate acne problems and enhance the results of your acne diet.
