The skin mole is actually an excess formation of extra skin cells. These are dark in color and are also referred to as melanocytes. Moles or warts may exist at birth or develop afterwards. Because the colors of the skin of all persons vary, the color of the moles may differ from person to person. Commonly there is no harm in having one or two moles and so removing a mole is not required in such cases.
The problem arises when the number of moles begin to increase or there is some sudden change in their appearance. It may indicate some disorders of the skin or even cancer. Moles on the face may also disfigure the appearance of a person and in such cases he may suffer from loss of self confidence. Consequently, removal of the moles is an established alternative in such cases.
You can find different procedures for removing moles. Normally they are removed through surgery, laser treatment, natural methods and electrocautery (burning). The person undergoing the treatment for mole removal has to be patient as it involves visiting a surgeon or physician for a number of times.
Surgery is recommended for removing cancerous moles. Surgery involves removal of not only the mole but also their underlying tissue as this method eradicates all the cancer cells also.
There are three surgical methods for removal of moles. These are (i) through the excision procedure, in which the mole along with its tissues are cut and removed in an oval shape by a surgical blade. The extent of the incision depends on the growth of the wart and the extent of the cancer cells. The excision is closed with stitches. (ii) by the cauterization technique which uses a cautery tool to burn suture the mole. This technique does not require any stitches. (iii) by shaving the mole technique. This procedure is utilized for those moles protruding from the skin’s surface. However, this procedure only removes the mole cells from the surface and so the underlying mole cells may make the mole to grow again.
Then there is the cosmetic procedure which uses laser beams to remove the mole. The laser beam bursts the cells of the mole. The procedure involves beaming the laser on the mole. The laser beams heats up the cells which gets broken down and are absorbed by the body during its healing process. This technique is very useful for fresh moles and those moles which are flat and small in size. However, multiple sessions are required in this method to remove the moles. This procedure leaves no scars and is also not painful.
Herbal topical creams are used to eliminate the moles in the natural method. The mole is at first scratched in order to allow the penetration of the cream inside the dermis. Later a scab forms gradually after the cream is applied for a length of time on the surface of the mole. The scab should be allowed to fall off naturally.
The skin mole removal methods described above are highly regarded and are effective also because there is permanent removal of the moles. Nonetheless you should be careful as there are chances of infection of the skin. Therefore you should invariably consult a skin specialist or surgeon before adopting any mole removing treatment.
